Purpose

Our purpose is to transform the way we value birth.

The Gulf Coast Doula Coalition is a community doula organization that provides historically marginalized groups with empowered birth experiences by offering person-centered, low-cost birth support.

Our mission is to curate beautiful birth stories by expanding access to reproductive care and education to birthing families along the Texas Gulf Coast.

We provide birth work services, education, and training to parents of all ages and aim to increase the number of birth workers in the region.

Vision

Our vision is a world where no one births alone. At GCDC, we see a world that relies on care, community, and connection to mobilize for the most marginalized. BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, low-income people, disabled, young people, and the incarcerated represent communities that are historically under-resourced, especially when it comes to birthing and parenting. We see a world where we all are able to give birth and parent with dignity, a world where families of all kinds are free to thrive

Our Values

Care

We believe everyone matters. We understand as birth workers and as community members it is our responsibility to uplift those in need by providing culturally congruent resources.

We know that the world, and specifically the United States, has a long history of harm against Black and Indigenous communities as well as other communities of color. Recent years have seen women continue to have their rights to reproductive healthcare restricted. The U.S. has been emboldened in its discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people; continues to endanger and forget the disabled; wholly oppresses the incarcerated, and utterly fails young people and children. This matters. We matter. The GCDC team cares that we all receive the care we need.

Community

The Gulf Coast Doula Coalition recognizes that we need each other. Our strength lies not only in our individual talents and experiences but also in the bonds that unite us.

We are a diverse collective, representing the very communities we serve and advocate for. We also know that liberation is a collective struggle.

At GCDC, we lift up and center the voices of those we serve with the understanding that our impact is magnified when we come together. We know, together, is the answer.

Connection is the basis of community.

Whether through forging collaborations, cultivating partnerships, or simply offering support we are committed to aligning ourselves with others in this work.

At the Gulf Coast Doula Coalition, we understand the transformative power of authentic relationships. We want to show up for ourselves, for each other, and for those we serve. This is the bedrock of our mission. We are intentional about developing authentic relationships that are multidimensional and organically lead to interconnectedness.

Our Leadership Team

The leadership team is made up of select doulas who are instrumental in planning GCDC programs and events. This work would not be possible without our amazing team.
